Bekele is back! One of our favourite famers in Ethiopia, several years ago we loved his coffee and finally it is back in Mallorca. Basha Bekele is a generational coffee farmer who oversees his own two farms and also purchases coffee from about 100 smallholders in his community. His farms, located in Bombe and Kokose, each feature their own drying station, so Bekele is able to manage every aspect of production - offering a rare example of traceability in the region! Regarded as a consummate professional and tireless connector, Bekele is constantly striving to improve the quality of his own coffee while also elevating coffees from his community as a whole.

After being hand-picked at peak ripeness, the coffee cherries are transported to the drying station on Bekele’s farm. There, they are carefully sorted for quality before being placed in sealed tanks for an extended anaerobic fermentation. Once fermentation is complete, the cherries are transferred to raised beds and dried slowly under the sun until they reach their optimal moisture content.

This coffee strikes a beautiful balance between varietal character and the influence of its processing. Floral, fruity, sweet and vibrant, it opens with a rose-like aroma followed by juicy notes of mango and raspberry. A smooth, milk-chocolate finish brings everything together, creating a complex yet remarkably balanced cup.
